Maxton R. Scotland
Maxton is from a cosmopolitan West Indian and British background and spent his formative years on the island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He studied Politics, international relations, journalism and linguistics at the University of the West Indies and Westminster University respectively. He currently holds an MSc in security, from the London Metropolitan University. Maxton is currently a social entrepreneur and has a passion for youth development and gender equality. This passion championed his desire to become actively involved with Rotaract and Global MUN He has been involved with MUN since 2014 and has attended MUN conferences, the world over. He is also the Executive Chairman of the International Youth Decision-making Body.
Maxton enlisted in the UK Armed Forces where he performed a plethora of roles, most notably, a linguist for 6 years. Through this medium, he harnessed the requisite training and skill(s) needed to understand global youths, across cultural and language barriers. He strongly believes that such experience instilled within him a greater appreciation of both differences and commonalities, in addition to the challenges presented by promoting a culture of peace and mutual understanding.
Maxton is no stranger to the international stage and is renowned for his belief in youths taking their rightful place at the decision-making table. He recently served as the Assistant Director of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees committee, and youth co-chair at the Rotary UN day, both at the United Nations Headquarters. He will also serve as youth co-chair at this year’s UN DPI/NGO conference and is a current nominee for the United Nations Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth position.

Paula Sopoian
Paula Sopoian (25 years old) Past President 2015-2016 of Rotaract Club Baia Mare Team from Romania has been part of the Rotary family since 2010. Believing in the Rotary motto – Service above Self – Paula is trying to bring a change around her by volunteering in Rotaract Clubs from Romania and other countries.
Graduating from the Babes- Bolyai University in Cluj -Napoca, Romania, from the Faculty of European Studies, she is current a final year student at the Faculty of Law at the same university. Paula is aiming for a career in diplomacy and international relations, being passionate about the field of international relations and global politics. In 2014, Paula together with 3 students from the Faculty of Law were the first team to take part in an international law moot court competition on behalf of their University, since then her appetite for international competitions and Model United Nations conferences opened.
With cheerful and sociable personality, eager for adventure, Paula likes to travel, to meet people who are open to discussions, to experience new cultures and situations that would help her to grow personally and intellectually. Rotaract combines all these elements, being an organization that offers the opportunity to visit different countries, to build relationships with beautiful people and that feeds her passion for volunteering.
Paula is currently involved in promoting the project initiated by her club in 2013, Rotaract Global Model United Nations, which unites young people from around the world at a conference for 5 days. In the debate, participants try to propose solutions to the main problems facing the world today.
Francesca El Asmar

Francesca El Asmar
Francesca works at OXFAM, an international NGO, as Protection Research Officer. She has been involved in Model UN conferences since 2011. She participated in high school MUN conferences in Lebanon and Philadelphia. She was also a delegate in university-level MUN in Geneva. Francesca is an intersectional feminist and a strong advocate of women’s rights. She holds an MSc degree in Gender, Policy and Inequalities from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She has been passionate for world politics and international development early on, and holds a BA degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Notre Dame University – Louaize. She is currently the Treasurer of the Rotaract Club of Kesrouan and the Incoming President for 2017-2018. She is very excited to merge her Model UN and her Rotaract experience. She looks forward to chairing the UNEP committee and is eager to meet all delegates very soon!
